Sitting in a chaise-lounge,

With the sun beaming overhead,

I am in a garden of luxury.

I am shaded by a palm tree,

Sipping mai-tais and margaritas.

This is what most call relaxation.

Sometimes I am reading a book,

Enjoying the view from my high rise apartment;

High above society.

High above the shouting, the traffic,

The sound of gunshots I know so well.

When these sounds pull me back to reality,

I am lying in bed,

Headphones around my ears,

Contemplating life and my next move.

Back to the dangerous mundane of it all.

My only plan is to stay hopeful, stay true,

And hope that with time

These daydreams will become reality.
